There are coaches to Chengdu, Lhasa and other towns in Chamdo Town. Generally, you can take coaches to Chengdu in the Passenger Transport Station on Wednesday and Saturday. The journey will take you three days and two nights. You will have to spend four days and three nights to Lhasa by coach on Saturday. Since the road conditions are not very satisfactory in Chamdo Region, it's best to ask the Passenger Transport Station for detailed information on 86-(0)895-4822793. The local tourism bureau also operates sightseeing coaches to Lhasa. This kind of coach will run only during the day and stop during the night for a better sightseeing experience, so it will take about 5 or 6 days to Lhasa. What's more, you can ask drivers passing by to give you a lift. Bargain with them directly. CNY 100 to 150 is enough for a journey to Chengdu or Lhasa. It is best to respect local peoples and their customs while you are traveling with them - they will love you for it!
