Train Schedule
Train Schedule and fares from Beijing, Lanzhou, Xining, Chongqing and Chengdu, Guangzhou, Shanghai to Lhasa.
- To travel to Lhasa, daily trains can be boarded from Beijing while trains from Xining, Lanzhou, Chongqing, Chengdu, Shanghai and Guangzhou operate every other day. Visiting Tibet is really a hard journey but if you want to visit this vast inland part of China, why not choose the train from one of these cities? You can alight at some stations and visit the local attractions before you rejoin the train. In this way, by the time you reach the mythical land of Tibet, you will have discovered many interesting places in China.

we are planning a trip from chengdu to lhasa for 2 weeks in february 2012.
could you advise us on train schedules and fares? will there be scenic stopovers along the way? is there anything interesting to do other than drink yak butter tea and riding horses?

you can find the train schedule and fare on this page, and the train will not stop at scenic spots, but you can enjoy the beautiful scenery on the way in the cabin.
if you go there in February, you may encounter their celebrations for the new year.

you can take the rain from Lhasa to Lanzhou first, and then take the from Lanzhou to Urumqi, Xinjiang.

hi,
it takes about 28 hours from Lhasa to Lanzhou, costs about CNY 483 for a hard sleeper, and 24 hours from Lanzhou to Urumqi, coasts about CNY 377 for a hard sleeper.

I am planning to do an overland tour from Chengdu to Lhasa on 14th Oct 2009 to 29th Oct 2009.
My plan is spending 12 days from Chengdu to Lhasa and take train from Lhasa to Chengdu or Guangzhou on 28th Oct 2009.
Please advise what is the train fare and schedule from Lhasa to Chengdu/Guangzhou on 27th-29th Oct 2009.

According to the latest train schedule and fare, the T24 Lhasa-Chengdu train departs at 09:05 and arrives in Chengdu at 09:55, taking 48 hours and 50 minutes. The prices for hard seat, hard berth, soft seat and soft berth are CNY 331, CNY 578, CNY 527 and CNY 921.
The T266 Lhasa-Guangzhou train leaves Lhasa at 08:32 and arrives in Guangzhou at 19:37, taking 59 hours and 5 minutes. Prices for hard seat, hard berth, soft seat and soft berth are CNY 451, CNY 719, CNY 809 and CNY 1251.
