Hey, I'm planning to go to Tibet this April and just wanted to ask if it's really true that you should rather go there by plane than train? I always thought that it's easier to adjust to the thin air if you take the train...? thanks!

Dear Sir/Madam,
I and my friend want to tour Tidet in August 2010. Chinese visa can be obtained in the Polish capital in Warsaw. I understand that TTB and PSB permits must be obtained via a Travel Agency in China/Tibet (Lhase).
1. Is there a list of these agencies which we can use from Poland to apply for these permits safely. I understand we must have the permits before entering Lhasa ( we'll be flying Warsaw-Beijing-Lhasa).
2.Are these permits expensive?
3.Can we apply for these permits on the spot in Lhasa via a local travel agency? (We want to find some travel agency there anyway to go on a few tours inland)
4.We want to go to Mt.Kailash in Eastern Tibet. To be able to do this , we need another permit. Can we just go to a travel agency in Lhasa and ask them to arrange this permit for us?
5. To be on the safe side, we would like to get all the necessary permits here in Poland 'cause it seems the safest option.
We are teachers and it is our first trip to Tibet.
I look forward to your reply.

|2. I think it is not expensive.
3. I think you have to apply for the permit in advance.
In a word, you you may try to find a reliable travel agency to arrange both the permits and the tours for you in Lhasa, and TravelChinaGuide.com is a good choice, which I have used during my last China Trip.

We plan to take the train from Golmud to Lhasa, spend a day or two in Lhasa and then travel the Friendship Highway and enter Nepal. However we would like the trip from Lhasa to the border to last no more that 3-4 days because our Chinese visas will expire. Is it possible to see Lhasa as part of a tour (to get the visa), and then hire a private driver to take us to Nepal?

|Sorry, we do not accept any individual application of the TTB (Tibet Tourism Bureau)permit, since we are not allowed to deal with it. Only if you join our Tibet tour can you receive our application service for the whole group.
Thanks for visiting tibettrip.com!

|Hi,
One cannot apply a TTB (Tibet Tourism Bureau) permit individually. If you would like to join the Tibet tour arranged by tibettrip.com, our team will deal with all the relative issues for you.

I'm looking for a travel agency in Xi'an to obtain a TTB-permit and a trainticket to Lhasa

|Hi, Lil
Our advice is that the travel agency is not allowed to help an individual traveler obtain the TTB-permit or ticket to Tibet. If you would like to join our Tibet tour, we will arrange the whole itinerary and relative procedures for you.
Have a good time!

Are you in mainland China? If so, please go to the nearest TTB (Tibet Tourism Bureau) and apply a permit.
