 I am looking for information on traveling from Beijing into Tibet and onto Kathmandu. Large travel agencies charge $2,000 for this trip. I am looking for low cost alternatives, local travel companies or agencies which could provide me with alternate solutions. Planning on traveling light with a few days in Lhasa, a few days traveling to base camp of Everest and then on to Kathmandu.

If anyone can provide advice or suggestions on lodging, safe routes of travel, where to get proper VISA's and any travel tips I would be very appreciative.

Why don't you contact this agent which you post your message to? They are experts in Tibet travel! Last year we purchased their tour, 14 days from Beijing, xi'an, lhasa and then travled overland to the border to Nepal, it was really a pleasant tour with the excellent service and the reasonable price!
