I would like to share my travel experience with anyone who will land on Tibet in the coming future. According to my real feeling, Tibetan society and culture are fragile and vulnerable. Be sure to respect local customs and traditions while traveling. SOME Tibetans, not all, believe that taking their picture will harm their soul. It is a good idea to ask for permission before taking pictures of any locals, especially the elderly. |

I'd like to suggest you to seek help from some local guides or package tour provided by travel services. You know, travel at one's own pace sounds indeed exciting, but when facing a totally different culture, you may encounter unexpected problems, and you may have no idea about the local custom as well as the information about scenic spots. |

Hi ANEIKA, It is a good question. I would like to tell you that you can difinitely travel around Tibet by you own. March is also a good time to be there. However, anyone who wants to make a tour in Tibet must obtain a so-called Tibet Travel Permit firstly, otherwise he has no right to buy the flight ticket to Tibet, and there is only one way to get such permit that is via a travel angency. Have you ever thought to take part in a Private Tour, which is totally tailored for you, no other participants will be in your group. For it is a private tour, you can consult with the travel agency to show you requirement as well as what you want and not. For the whole of your tour, you will benefit from a private guide and driver they provide. You will have flexibility within reason to agree your daily departure, sightseeing and even mealtimes with your guide in each city. In that case, culture shock is no longer a problem for you. I suppose this website is one right place you can have a try.wish you a good trip! |
