 i am planning a long trip to many countries and tibet is a place i would love to see. i have been looking at some tours to tibet and they seem very expensive. is it possible to travel there without being on a tour? And once in tibet is it expensive compared to China? thanks for your replies.

Since Tibet is a vast land with thin populations, the transportation there maybe expensive. But you can travel with groups to share the cost.
