China is really a marvelous mainland for us to take a visit. I have been there for several times, and visited Shanghai, Beijing, Yunnan and then Guilin. I like China very much. In 2004, I plan to go to Tibet with my friends. Can anyone tell me when is the best time to visit Tibet? Thanks |

Generally speaking, Apr to October is the good time to travel Tibet. But Jul and Aug are the rainy season and maybe will affect your trip if you travel overland by car.

Glad to read your advice about when to go to Tibet. What about the early part of December? How harsh is the weather then? Thank you. |

December is not a good time to visit Tibet since the temperature may be under zero, and there are less flights than usual enter Lhasa.

Hello all, So, for this year, maybe September is the most suitable time ? Maybe Eric could give suggestion ? I'm a Indonesia Chinese, plan to travel to Tibet maybe August or Sept, I'm concern that the permit regulation is changing time to time, so, what is your suggestion ? Could I just arrv in Chengdu and wait for everything settled ? I'd like to travel all by myself with a lady local guide, is that possible to arrange ? Thank you, Linda |

Hi, Stumbled on this forum while searching for travelling tips to Tibet. I'm planning a visit to Tibet in 2 weeks time, from the 15th till about 24th. You said it's gonna have landslides and rainfall this period so I'm really wondering if I should go on with the trip. Kindly advise! ~Cheers~ |

I'm thinking of visiting Lhasa by myself December 25 or so in 2004 (this year). I hear the weather will be really harsh, will it be any better in early January?
