I am from Singapore too. I reached SG last weekend from Tibet after joined the Shoton festival in Tibet. A nice and enjoyable trip. I suggest you to visit Namtso lake and EBC, should not miss it. Ya, we need Tibet permits too, this can be arrange by QualityTibet, qualitytibet@gmail.com. We asked them to arrange car for us to visit EBC and Namtso lake and all necessary tibet permit as well.

Hi Sam, I'm in Chengdu now. Unfortenatly you can't get a permit unless you do it via a travel agent (there is no direct way to do it !!!), and they usualy would not get you a permit unless you book some kind of a deal with them , like flight or a travel package...

Hi, Zorcher. If you can't adapt the high altitude in Tibet easily, you can try first the low areas like Nyingchi, forests and green lands can easy to find there. Scenery there is very beautiful. such as Bayi Town, you can also see high mountains there. And road travel is more prefrred to plane, because more time is afford for you to adapt. I can't cover all the details for you here. For some other preprations, you can look at:

Hi There,
I hope you are back from Tibet.

We are planning to go there May next year. But got very confused over the entry permit. Can't we go there just on our own, must we join the local tour?

If possible, hope you can write to me with more detail at willho@lycos.com
