Topic: How can I get to Sakya monastery from Lhasa?

I am art historian, currently writing about the ritual context of Tibetan painting. I want to go and visit the Sakya monastery, but have no idea how. |

Yes, you are absolutely right. Sakya is the first choice if you are a mural and Tibetan history lover. Hope information below can help you. You have to get to Shigatse from Lhasa then to Sakya. From Lhasa to Shigatse: Long distance buses depart daily from the bus station from 07:00 - 12:00 at RMB 38. The trip takes 8 hours. Then from Shigatse to Sakya: Regular buses depart from 7:30 to 8:00 to Sakya at RMB 27 and the trip takes about five hours. Ten minutes walk from the county checkpoint in Sakya, you can see white buildings. ________________________________________ Cynthia |
