Hi there, I'm planning a trip to Tibet this October as part of my three weeks trip in China. Now, my questions are: Where can I get Travel Permit? When should I apply for it? Before my trip to Tibet or as soon as I arrived at Beijing? What do I need to bring while applying for the permit? My photos? Passport? Thanks a million! |

The travel permit is checked and issued by the Tibet Tourism Bureau (TTB) and is usually issued two weeks prior to your entry to Tibet. You can ask a travel agent to arrange it for you. Your photos are not necessary. But, you must provide your name (as appears on your passport), nationality, age, sex, occupation, passport number as well as the photocopies of your passport and visa. |

No, Hong Kong and Macau resident don't need travel permit. What they need is the Home-Visiting Certificate.
