hi i am planning to goto Tibet in around mid to late Aug.

just wondering what is weather usually like (and i heard is rain a lot in aug)... what kind of clothing i should bring ?

It can be as high as 10 C at noon but as low as below zero C at midnight. A heavy coat is needed anyway.
Also it rains a lot-90% of the precipatation falls in summer. Hail and landslide are common, too.

What means rainy season in Lhasa? Is it rain like in India or Indonesia, where one should stay at the hotel room all the day and next day and again next day? Or it is just a few minutes at night, and one can continue sightseeing?

It rains at night most of time. The rain itself is not a big deal, however, the road may be destoryed accompanied by landslide, hail or mud-rock flow. Be prepared!
