Potala Palace: Group Tourists' Visiting Time Limited within One Hour

Published : 4:07 A.M. EST, Jul 11, 2007
Due to the high tourist season of Tibet travel since July, Potala Palace has decided to limit the group tourists' visiting time within one hour from July, while the number of visitors is still limited no more than 2,300 per day.

The measure that the visiting time is limited within one hour has been applied to Jokhang Temple since May. However, for 30 – 40 minutes is just enough for visiting the temple, this measure is not quite a problem for visitors. As to the scale of Potala Palace, the measure requires more considerations from tourists yet. It is said that the measure is only carried out from July to August, and may change when the low season comes.

What's more, it is reported that since many travelers prefer to enter Tibet by train and exit by air, the train tickets from Shanghai and Xining to Lhasa are in a great demand now, as is true of air tickets in Lhasa Airport.
