Tibet Weather to Become Better This Week

According to Tibet Metrological Station, the weather of Tibet will become better this week, but most regions in Ngari will still be hit by snow.

On the first two days of this week, it is cloudy in Nakchu, Chamdo, Nyingchi, Ngari and the southern boundary, with partial regions being overcast and snowy; while the other regions are cloudy. Between Jan 23rd and Jan 25th, it will be cloudy and overcast in Ngari, Nakchu and Chamdo, with light snow in partial areas; while the other regions will be cloudy. During the last two days of this week, Ngari, Nakchu, and Chamdo will be overcast, with slight or medium snow, while the rest regions are to be cloudy.

Tibetan Bus Tickets are Enough during Chinese Spring Festival Holiday

At present, all coach stations in Lhasa have prepared well for the peak transport season of Chinese Spring Festival (Jan 23rd - Mar 2rd). According to the Lhasa Coach Station, the bus ticket will not be difficult to get during that period, and the bus fare will remain the same.

During the peak season, passengers in the coach stations of Lhasa are expected to increase a lot, especially those in the direction of Shigatse and Shannan. But it is guaranteed that the coach stations will not limit the sale of bus tickets and that passengers are able to get the ticket on the departure date.

As to refunding tickets, it can be handled at the wicket directly. The charge of it is as follows: 10% of the bus fare when refunding at least 2 hours earlier than the departure time, and 20% of the bus fare when refunding less than 2 hours before the departure time.

Qinghai-Tibet Railway Company to Change Ticket Selling Ways during Chinese Spring Festival Holiday

Due to the great demand on tickets during the peak transport season of Chinese Spring Festival (Jan 23rd - Mar 2nd), Qinghai-Tibet Railway Company decides to adjust the ticket selling ways for the convenience of passengers.

During the peak transport season, all ticket selling agencies within Lhasa, Xining, and Golmud cities will not sell hard or soft berth tickets, which are only on sale at the railway station. All hotels, restaurants and travel agencies will stop handling tourist group tickets. And the railway station will also increase wickets and extend ticket selling time.

In addition, the company will also limit the destinations of some train tickets.
K174: for destinations farther than Shangqiu City.
K378: for destinations farther than Zhengzhou City.
T152: for destinations farther than Xian City.
1050: for destinations farther than Tianshui City.
T28, T166, T266: for destinations farther than Lanzhou City.
T24, T224: for destinations farther than Baoji City.
And passengers to Zhengzhou and Xian may as well be arranged on the No.1102 and L176 trains.

Lhasa-Katmandu Coach Resumed on Jan 15th

It is reported that the ticket of Lhasa-Katmandu coach has begun to be sold since Jan 11th, and the bus was resumed the normal service on Jan 15th.

The resumed bus departs from the newly built Lhasa Liuwu Station near the Lhasa Railway Station. The single trip takes about three days, costing a fare of USD 70. On the bus there is a tourist guide and interpreter familiar with Chinese, Tibetan, English and Nepali. At present there is one bus every week, departing at 10:30 on Tuesday from Lhasa.

Time for Refunding, Rerouting Train Tickets to Change during Chinese Spring Festival Holiday

During the peak transport season of Chinese Spring Festival (Jan 23rd - Mar 2nd), passengers should refund the ticket at least 6 hours earlier than the departure time of the train, and they should reroute the ticket before the departure time of the train. The departure time of the rerouted train ticket can not be later than 3 days.

In addition, the pre-sale period of train tickets during the peak transport season is adjusted to 10 days, which has begun on Jan 14th. And the group ticket must be got no later than 48 hours before the train departs. Now Tickets of Tibet trains are in great demand. Here is some recent information of Tibetan trains.

T28 (to Beijing): hard seat tickets between Jan 15th and Jan 18th sold out.
T166 (to Shanghai): hard seat ticket between Jan 15th and Jan 17th sold out.

T24 (to Chengdu): hard seat and hard berth tickets until Jan 22nd sold out.
T224 (to Chongqing): hard seat tickets between Jan 15th and Jan 21st, hard berth tickets on Jan 15th, 17th sold out.
KT918 (to Lanzhou): hard seat tickets until Jan 22nd sold out.

Jiuzhai-Huanglong Airport : Flights to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou to Open

It is reported that Jiuzhai-Huanglong Airport will open flights to Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou in the year 2008.

Located in Aba Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan, Jiuzhai-Huanglong Airport is the only way to the famous Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong scenic spots by air. The airport has been in service for 4 years, and has already had flights to Chengdu, Chongqing, Xian, Kunming and Zhangjiajie at present.
