
Grand Epic Opera - Himalayas Staged in Lhasa
The grand epic opera - Himalayas was staged in Lhasa Folk Art Palace on the evening of October 31st. As a distinctive cultural activity of Tibet, it will be held every evening for tourists in Tibet.
'Himalayas' is cooperated by the Tibet Tourism Co., Ltd and Lhasa Cultural Bureau. The opera tells Tibet's natural vicissitude, religious beliefs, history, culture, festivals and modern life. It includes four scenes, with the senior artist Reba being the story-teller.
The theatre of the opera - Lhasa Folk Art Palace is equipped with the most advanced diffuse Oxygen-supplying facility in the world, called 'world's largest classy Oxygen bar'.

2007 Tibet Holy Land Wedding Ceremony to Held in October
The 2007 Tibet Holy Land Wedding Ceremony will be held in October, when 99 couples from all over the world will have a grand Tibetan traditional wedding ceremony at the holy Yamdrok Yumtso Lake in Shannan.
The annual Tibet Holy Land Wedding Ceremony was sponsored by the Tibet Tourism Bureau (TTB), aiming at widely spreading the distinctive tourist resources and folk culture of Tibet, as well as increasing the communication between the mainland China and Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan and the rest of the world. Since initiated in 2003, it has drawn the attention of the whole nation.
The activity will be held between Oct. 18th and Oct. 25th this year. Except the grand wedding ceremony, the new couples will also visit the famous scenic spots in Lhasa, plant the evergreen tree at Tibet Railway, receive a golden Buddhist statue and a handmade Thangka, and participate in other wonderful activities.

2007 Mt. Qomolangma Cultural Festival to Held on Aug.26th
It is reported that the 2007 Mt. Qomolangma Cultural Festival is to be held between August 26th and August 28th in Shigatse City, Tibet.
The activities of the festival include distinctive singing and dancing performances of Tsang (rear Tibet), folk custom exhibitions, goods trade, and signing activity for the 2008 Olympics. The square of Tashilhunpo Monastery and Shigatse Folk Custom Garden will be the main stage. The opening ceremony will be held cooperatively by CCTV and Shigatse.

Lhasa Railway Station: Each Allowed to Obtain Two Tickets Leaving Tibet
Due to the steep rise of travelers to Tibet, Lhasa Railway Station has stopped selling group tickets, and individuals are only able to buy two tickets each to leave Tibet at the most.
At present the passenger flow of the railway station has reached the peak. To regulate the ticket selling, the station demands individuals to receive a paper in the square first and then queue to buy the ticket. The procedure of ticket refund can only be handled within 6 hours before the train departs.

Weather of Lhasa Fine for Outing during Shoton Festival
According to the Tibet Meteorological Station, during the Shoton Festival (Aug.12th – Aug.18th), rainfalls in Lhasa are mainly expected to be in nighttime, so it is good for outing on the day.
It is predicted that there will be more rains and less heat airs in Lhasa during the Shoton Festival. Rains will concentrate in the west regions while those of the east will be lessened. On Aug.12th, it is fine in the majority part of Tibet, with regional showers and thundershowers. From Aug.13th to Aug.16th, Nakchu and Shigatse will have light rains, with scattered moderate rains, while other regions will be cloudy and overcast to drizzles. During the last two days, weather of Nakchu and Shigatse will be overcast to light rain, with scattered moderate rains, while other regions will be cloudy to overcast, with scattered showers or thundershowers.
Remember to prevent from the strong sunshine on the day, add some clothes during the cooling night, and be careful on the muddy road.
