
Tianjin Tsa-Tsa Cultural Research and Exhibition Center to Open on Oct 28th
It is reported that Tianjin Municipal Tsa-Tsa Cultural Research and Exhibition Center, the only one dedicated to the research and exhibition of Tsa-Tsa in the world, is to open on October 28th.
Tsa-Tsa, a kind of common Tibetan religious object, mainly refers to the small handmade clay figures of Buddha and Stupa. This exhibition is the epitome of Tibetan Buddhism's thousand year of history. In addition, a limited number of the first edition of stamps, stamp folders, commemorative postmarks and envelops of Tsa-Tsa will also be sold with signature.

Tibet Weather Forecast: Rains and Snows to Hit Tibet
According to Tibet Meteorological Observatory, rains and snows are expected to hit Tibet, which will result in lower temperatures.
From October 15th to October 18th, it will be overcast in Nakchu and Chamdo, with light rains and sleets, and isolated medium snows. Cloudy and overcast weather is about to be seen in Ngari, southern boundary areas and Nyingchi, with isolated showers or flurries. And the other regions will be cloudy. From October 19th to October 21st, light rains or sleets are to appear in Nakchu, Chamdo, Nyingchi and southern boundary, involving isolated medium rains or snows. And it will be cloudy and overcast in other regions, with isolated light rains or sleets.

Cost of Lhasa Tours to Decrease 50% in Winter
Lhasa Tourism Bureau is to start carrying out the shoulder season price this winter, which covers restaurants, hotels, air transport and many scenic spots. The average cost of Lhasa tours is likely to decrease 50% compared with the same period of past years.
The admission fee of Namtso Lake will decrease from CNY 80 to CNY 50 in the winter, and Lhasa Nangri Folk Custom Garden will give a 40% - 70% preferential price. Moreover, top attractions such as Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Norbulingka will not be short of tickets in winter.
As to Lhasa flights, Air China will cut the price 40% to 50% for group tourists, while Hainan Airlines 30% to 70%. And the charge for tourist vehicles is also expected to drop 42% to 57%.

Road to Everest Base Camp Rebuilt
The only way to Everest Base Camp - Zhufeng Road has been finished renovation recently. Everest Base Camp is the necessary stop for climbing up Mt. Everest (Mt. Qomolangma), and is the only scenic spot opened within the central area of Everest Nature Reserve.
Zhufeng Road extends from Sino-Nepal Road to Everest Base Camp, 110 km (68 mi) long and 3.5 m (14.5 ft) wide. First built in 1978, the road was paved with gravels, with a total of over 170 zigzags, which is quite dangerous for driving. After the reconstruction, the road was widened and flattened, and built with fences beside the zigzag road.

Tibet Weather Forecast for National Day Holiday
According to Tibet Meteorological Observatory, during the National Day Holiday (October 1st - October 7th) it will be fine on the daytime in most regions of Tibet, and precipitation mainly appears in the night, affecting little for the tour and transportation.
Before October 3rd, the weather is predicted to be good in most regions of Tibet, except the possible showers in Nyingchi. From October 4th, light rains or snows will hit Tibet from west to east, with isolated moderate rains or snows in Shigatse, Nakchu and Nyingchi. Besides, there will be moderate gales in North Tibet and the boundary of South Tibet during the festival.
As to the temperature, it will be a litter higher compared with the same period of past years. The highest temperature of the day will reach 7 - 15 oC (44.6 - 59 oF) in Nakchu, Ngari, Pagri (the highest town in the world) and Namtso Lake, while 13 - 23 oC (55.4 - 73.4 oF) in other regions. The lowest temperature will fall to -3 – 2 oC (26.6 - 35.6 oF) in Ngari, Nakchu, Pagri and Nhagartse (Shannan) and 3 - 13 oC (37.4 - 55.4 oF) in other regions.
In Lhasa City, it will be generally fine before October 4th, with a highest temperature of 19 - 23 oC (66.2 - 73.4 oF) and lowest temperature of 6 – 9 oC (42.8 – 48.2 oF). During the rest days it will be cloudy and overcast with occasional showers, the highest temperature being 17 – 20 oC (62.6 – 68 oF) while the lowest 4 – 7 oC (39.2 – 44.6 oF).

Reconstruction on Chamdo Bamda Airport Starts
The ground-breaking ceremony for reconstruction on Chamdo Bamda Airport in Tibet, the highest civil airport in the world, was held on September 29th.
The project is one of the key subjects of Tibet's 11th Five-Year Plan (2005 - 2010), which includes the regeneration on the broken runway and the airport facilities. The whole project is expected to be finished before October 1st, 2009.
In addition, during this five-year period, Tibet will pay more attention to the building of Ngari Airport, the recovery of Shigatse Airport and the regeneration of Lhasa Airport. So until 2010 there will be five civil airports in service in Tibet.
