Ancient Shengshong Culture Ruins

It is the earliest cultural center of Tibet and the origin of Bon . It created its own character and its glory once overwhelmed the Tubo Kingdom. The ancient Shengshong Kingdom, which rose around 900 BC and mysteriously disappeared in the 8 th century after being conquered by the Tubo Kingdom, still remains a mystery to historians.

The ruins, near Nyima County, Nakchu Prefecture, are said to be where the capital of Shengshong Kingdom was located. East to Lake Dangra yumsto, and situated on Mt. Daguo, the grand stone buildings cover a total area of 1 square kilometer (247 acres) and look like a spacious fortress. Though only broken walls have been left through a history of 1,600 years, the splendor of the original palaces can still be traced.
