Climate
Owing to the valleys, rivers and mountains that fill the Chamdo Region, its climate varies throughout the region. The northern and northwestern parts are cold and dry while the southeastern part is quite warm and humid. During the day there is continuous sunlight but at night, the temperatures drop sharply. When traveling in Chamdo, it is best to pack some warm clothing.
Generally, in the summer, Chamdo is quite warm and humid. Although there is little rainfall throughout the year, it always creates problems on transportation routes. Landslides in the rainy season cause great trouble every year. If you are traveling in Chamdo from July to August, be careful of the weather! Spring and winter are windy and dry. In the mountainous areas, heavy snow will cover all the paths and roads from November to March! All in all, the best months to visit Chamdo are May, June and September.

Post and Telecom
There are China Post, China Telecom and China Mobile branches in Chamdo Town which can provide you postal and telephone services. You can also find many internet cafes in Chamdo Town; however, the internet connection may be slow. In more remote areas, it may be hard to find those services.
Hospitals
Chamdo People's Hospital, located in Chamdo Town, is the local best hospital. Their telephone number is (0)895-4821745. Traditional Tibetan Hospital in No.14 Chamdo Dong Lu, Chamdo Town is a hospital offering traditional Tibetan and Chinese medicine treatments as well as western facilities. Tel: (0895)-4829864.
Banks
Although branches of Bank of China, Agricultural Bank of China and China Construction Bank can be found in Chamdo Town, foreign currency and checks are not acceptable here, so make sure to bring enough cash. What's more, you can open an account in China Post which has more branches than banks in Chamdo Region.
