Raog Lake

Ra'og Lake, also known as Ranwu Lake, lies beside the Sichuan-Tibet road at an altitude of more than 3,800 meters (about 12,500 feet). The lake is surrounded by snow-capped mountains and glaciers, such as 'Kangrigarbo Snow Mountain'. When the ice thaws, water flows into the lake maintaining the water level. On the banks of the lake there are vast grass meadows and cropland. On mid-slope of the mountains near the lake is thick virgin forest. Above the forest line are various kinds of azaleas and shrubs; while the top of mountains are covered by very thick ice or snow. This combination of clear blue lake water, mountains in the distance, the green of the grass and crops, presents an amazingly beautiful picture.

 Getting there:
Ranwu village, on the shores of Ra'og Lake, is adjacent to national road 318, making it very easy to get to.

 Accommodation:
You can stay at the Rest House at Ranwu Transportation Stop or the Ping'an Hostel (Safety Hostel). If you stay at either of these places, it is very convenient to get information about transport, as many passing cars or buses stop here.

 Dining:
There are several small restaurants which serve Sichuan dishes. However the prices are rather high.
