2007 Lhasa Shoton Festival to Unveil on Aug.12thPublished : 4:18 A.M. EST, Jul 9, 2007 Lhasa Shoton Festival, as the first group of national intangible cultural heritage of China, is one of the most important traditional festivals of Lhasa. The 2007 Lhasa Shoton Festival will be held from Aug.12th to Aug.18th, according to the declaration of Lhasa Municipal Government at the news conference on Jul.5th. The theme of this festival is 'Tour the historically famous city of Lhasa, and appreciate thousand –year cultural festival of Shoton'. The opening ceremony will be held in the square of Potala Palace. During the festival, various traditional celebrating activities will be staged, including the Buddha Unveiling Festival in Drepung Monastery, Tibetan Opera performances in Norbulingka, traditional singing and dancing performances in Dzongyab Lukhang (also known as Naga King) Park, as well as equestrianism and yak racing competitions in Lhasa Racecourse.
