More Tourists to Tibet in Winter

Published : 10:01 P.M. EST, Feb 14, 2007
It is reported that more tourists come to visit Tibet this winter due to the opening of Qinghai-Tibet Railway and Nyingchi Airport. Since November, 2006, the number of tourist has been risen 5.37% compared with the same period of last year.

Travel agencies involved introduced that fewer tourists came to Tibet since November in the past, and almost no Tibet tour group was arranged around Spring Festival. But more and more visitors, especially foreign visitors, came to Tibet this year because of the cheaper budget during the winter, the much cheaper tickets of scenic spots, and the convenient and comfortable Tibet Railway. Tourists from Japan, Korea, and Malaysia as well as Guangdong, Beijing, Gansu, Yinchuan, etc. are now traveling actively around Tibet Plateau.
