Potala Palace: Snow City to Open on May 31stIt is reported that the first period of the maintenance on the Snow City in Potala Palace has been completed, and it will open to both domestic and oversea visitors on May 31st.
The Snow City refers to the lower parts obverse to Potala Palace, with an area of 3,340 square meters (0.8 acres). Now there are 22 ancient buildings remain to be found, including the former local government building of Tibet, the offices and residences of former aristocrats, officials, monks, as well as the serfs and workmen. The Snow City now opens 13 scenic spots, including 12 ancient buildings and one tourist service center. There visitors can see hundreds of cultural relics, and the on-spot dynamic display of the distinctive Tibetan arts and culture, such as the making process of Tibetan food and drinks, sculptures, Thangkas, from which one can learn the Tibetan history and culture vividly. It is said that the admission fee of the Snow City is priced at CNY 30 temporarily, which can be got at the ticket window of the South Gate of Potala Palace. ?
