Sino-Nepal Road: Nyalam-Zhangmu Section Being Repaired

The repair work of Nyalam-Zhangmu Section of Sino-Nepal Road has been started recently. This project will greatly improve the transportation between Lhasa and the national major port Zhangmu Town.

The project extends from Nyalam County to the Friendship Bridge of Zhangmu in Shigatse, with a whole distance of 42.017 km. (26 miles). This road, which was initially paved with gravels, was in bad condition and easily exposed to snow, rain and other disasters. The rebuilt road will be widen 7.5 m. (8.2 yd.) and paved with bitumen, with a speed limit of 40 km. (24.8 miles) per hour twice as before.

In addition, the Tingri-Nyalam Section of Sino-Nepal Road is also about to be restored this year.??
