Shigatse: Xiangba Tibetan Opera Listed Chinese National Intangible Cultural HeritagePublished : 1:48 A.M. EST, Nov 9, 2007 Recently, Xiangba Tibetan Opera of Namling County, Shigatse has been formally listed into the first group of National Intangible Cultural Heritage by State Council and Ministry of Culture of China. Xiangba Tibetan Opera is among the four genres of blue-mask Tibetan operas, with a long history of 700 years. It is a very distinctive kind of art that has absorbed some essences from the local singing and dancing art forms, as well as the religious sacrificial ceremonies. As times goes on it has formed a pretty fixed style of performance.
