Road to Everest Base Camp Rebuilt

Published : 3:34 A.M. EST, Oct 10, 2007
The only way to Everest Base Camp - Zhufeng Road has been finished renovation recently. Everest Base Camp is the necessary stop for climbing up Mt. Everest (Mt. Qomolangma), and is the only scenic spot opened within the central area of Everest Nature Reserve.

Zhufeng Road extends from Sino-Nepal Road to Everest Base Camp, 110 km (68 mi) long and 3.5 m (14.5 ft) wide. First built in 1978, the road was paved with gravels, with a total of over 170 zigzags, which is quite dangerous for driving. After the reconstruction, the road was widened and flattened, and built with fences beside the zigzag road.
