Lhasa Liuwu Bridge to Run on May 1stPublished : 4:04 A.M. EST, Apr 16, 2007 It is said that the first modern overpass of Tibet, Lhasa Liuwu Bridge is almost completed and expected to run on May 1st. The launch of the bridge will make it quite easy to travel between Lhasa Railway Station and the city district.Lhasa Liuwu Bridge, 1,660 meters (1 mile) long and 29 meters (32 yards) wide, consists of the Northern Overpass, the Main Bridge and the Southern Approach. At present, the main structure has already been finished, and the road of the northern part has been paved with bitumen, with the southern part on the point of completion. Now some additional works, such as the installation of the road fences, road flagstones, road lights, road paintings, and the green plans of the surroundings, are being carried out. These works are estimated to be finished on Apr. 25th.
