Tashilhunpo Monastery

Tashilhunpo Monastery, Shigatse attraction, Tibet Tashilhunpo Monastery is one of the six famous monasteries of the Gelugpa Sect. A series of renovations, enlargement give all visitors its present vigor. Walls built along mountain line surround the Tashilhunpo Monastery. There are altogether 57 sutra halls and 3,600 rooms. The background for the monastery is mighty peaks, facing the morning sun. Its main building with a golden roof and red walls is extremely magnificent and majestic to fully catch your eyesight. Seen from a distance, the Tashilhunpo Monastery glitters in the sun. Walk through the magnificent Halls, you can experience the glory of this monastery with the incense burners giving off a pleasant purple mist. The statues of the Buddha are vibrant and lifelike and will bring peace and kindness to your soul. The Tashilhunpo Monastery attracts many Buddhism adherents both at home and abroad to come here for worship.
 Getting there:
The Tashilhunpo Monastery is in the west part of Shigatse, therefore you can walk there or take a pedicab.
